Today we will be celebrating the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Junior. Dr. King was a man who spent his life trying to get everyone to get along. Dr. King knew that if we looked past fear, and prejudice, we could all become friends. In that spirit we will be reading The Sandwich Swap. In this story two friends who always eat different sandwiches get into an argument because they each think their sandwich is better. In the end they try each others sandwiches and discover that different can be just as good! For our craft we will be painting a picture of a hand, symbolizing the hand of friendship that Dr. King extended to everyone. We would like to invite everyone to bring a sandwich with them today. While our pictures are drying, let’s sit down together and eat a sandwich. Maybe we can make a new friend!

The goal of baby storytime is to encourage early literacy in babies. We will spend time playing with baby; singing songs, and playing with bells, scarves, and the parachute. We will implement finger plays to work on gross and fine motor skill development, learn one new baby sign each week, and learn how to “read” with your baby at this age. We will end storytime each day with a book I have chosen to read to the group. We envision this group to be a place for our infant mothers to bring baby and socialize them, as well as being able to socialize with other new moms. We look forward to serving you with this exciting new program!

Join us for a Story Time all about the importance of community and sharing. We will start our day with singing and dancing. Then we will read a story about 3 monks who visit a selfish village. With a big pot and one stone these monks share the gift of giving. For our craft we will create our own stone soup book. We will be collecting canned goods for the local soup kitchen today. Please bring one canned good per child.
