We are committed to serving you. Although operations are closed to the public, individuals may still contact the Court to get information and handle their cases;
All business may be conducted either online, via email, by fax, by mail, or by phone.

All individuals will be required to call or email the Court in lieu of making personal appearances to take care of their court business or to request a scheduled court date (in-person or via
teleconference) with the judge.

Virtual Dockets:
If you need to see a judge regarding your case before the court reopens, we will begin having virtual dockets in June. These must be scheduled with the court staff.

Purpose of the Dayton Municipal Court

The Municipal Court provides the City with enforcement of Class “C” misdemeanor criminal offenses and ordinance violations occurring within the city limits. The Municipal Court is responsible for maintaining accurate records of all cases, including arrest records, formal complaints, citation dispositions, state reporting, court costs, docket records, trial proceedings, show cause hearings and arraignments. The court duties also include processing appeals, issuing warrants for non-payment of outstanding fines, receiving all court documents and defendant correspondence, as well as balancing and closing of accounts, and preparing requisitions for purchasing. The Municipal Court is accountable for staying current with the changes in procedures and court costs that are submitted to the state during the Legislative Session.

Our Mission Statement

The mission of the Municipal Court is to ensure compliance with all state and municipal laws and city ordinances while providing quality services, thereby earning and maintaining the public's respect and confidence.  The court provides a forum for citizens to be heard in a professional and courteous environment in matters related to Class “C” offenses, so that legal rights of individuals are safeguarded and public interest is protected with the highest level of customer service, efficiency and integrity.
